Tasty and useful: how to lose weight the right way when cooking with a WEBER grill

This is a review by a man who has been running his blog since 2004 and is otherwise known as ZYTAN. The translation is from Russian, so please forgive any translation inaccuracies

When there's nothing to say, I write... or rather, not me, but my own experience, in terms of health, correct and, most importantly, tasty food and how to lose weight the right way when cooking with a WEBER grill. After all, there is nothing really difficult about making such food. It's just a combination of three essential elements:

  • the desire
  • quality products
  • the right tools, such as the Weber Performer Deluxe GBS.

So why this grill. There are many reasons, from ease of use to the fact that the food actually comes out really tasty and healthy. And even someone who has only ever made instant coffee and scrambled eggs for breakfast in their life can cope with cooking it.

When the grill arrived, it looked like this:

Everything was very neatly packed.

But only 20 minutes had passed and the grill was fully assembled.

The Weber barbecue is simple enough, although it is really a true outdoor kitchen.

The structure itself is made of durable materials and the lid and body of the grill are made of mild steel coated with porcelain enamel at 900 degrees. This creates a very strong grip and protects the surface from scratching, flaking and dirt build-up.

For comparison see: traditional grills are powder-coated at 350 degrees, and when the cooking temperature is often 300-350 degrees, the powder-coating starts to flake and peel within two years. Weber barbecue covers and body are guaranteed for 10 years.

By the way, I already have a Chinese counterpart lying around my house, which has turned into a pile of rubbish over the years, so I am very happy with the Weber grill.

My Weber has a very handy One Touch cleaning system. It's a special petal-shaped aluminium leaf on the bottom of the grill body that, with a light hand movement, pushes the excess ash into a container at the bottom. The full container can then be easily removed and the ash disposed of.

The Weber Performer allows you to cook for large groups of people at the same time, as the main cooking surface has a diameter of over half a metre (57cm).

The grill has a lid, so you can cook both directly and indirectly (this method is often used for large cuts of meat, such as chicken). But I'll tell you more about that later. For now, I'm trying to cook steaks from marbled beef. And I succeeded!

Another useful thing is the lid handle with a heat guard, which makes it easy to remove the lid, put it in a special holder for easy flipping of the steak.

The grill is equipped with a large table at a comfortable height, a charcoal storage compartment, a removable timer and the main attraction of this Weber model - the gas ignition.

Then you can get ready to cook...

First. The Weber charcoal briquettes I'm going to use burn steadily for up to 2 hours and allow you to cook several dishes at once for a large group of people.

Second. I simply place the charcoal in the fuel bowl, press the gas ignition button and go about my cooking in peace. After about 8 minutes, when the lower part of the coals have settled down, I turn off the gas and wait another 10 minutes or so for the upper coals to turn white.

After cooking, I cooked on a cast iron grill with a special coating which is comfortable and easy to clean. They are placed in the middle of the stainless steel GBS grill, where other accessories can be applied: frying pan, chicken roaster, pizza stone, WOK pan, etc.

Heat everything up well and let's get started!

The GBS grill gives the steaks a great view during cooking and creates a characterful pattern. These steaks only take 8 minutes to cook with the lid on.

It's about the lid. Many people think that the main function of the lid is to protect the food from bad weather. In fact, cooking under a lid is a whole new level of cooking that a basic grill will never achieve. First of all, the dripping fat will never catch fire under the lid, so the food will cook but not burn. Secondly, the heat stays under the lid and the dish cooks evenly on all sides. This allows the steak to be cooked to the required temperature.

Thirdly, the lid allows indirect cooking.

In my case, when the meat is almost cooked, I pull it away from the direct heat to the side and place the vegetables in the middle. In this way, the vegetables cook while the meat rests on the side.

A few more minutes and the stunning steak is ready!

Of course, this is not the only dish that can be prepared with the Weber Performer Deluxe grill. And in future posts I will be sure to tell you and show you how you can eat at home in a way that is not only useful but also delicious.

Don't change the channel!

It will be interesting!
