Grilled catfish fillet

A particularly tasty and simple way to grill fish fillets. This way, the fish does not need to be flipped over, but is perfectly cooked on its skin, which is so crispy that it even resembles crisps. The flesh of the fish is very tasty, succulent and does not overcook, and the dill and mustard seeds give it a savoury freshness. The recipe - grilled catfish fillet - deserves to be on your table.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 large catfish fillet (about 700-800 g)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp. cold-pressed olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. mustard seed kernels
  • 1 large stick of fresh dill
  • salt, ground black pepper (to taste)
  • vegetable oil (for greasing the catfish skin and grill)

PREPARATION

I washed the catfish fillet and skin and dried it well.

I brushed the skin of the fillet well with vegetable oil to prevent it from sticking to the grill grates during cooking.

I mixed the lemon juice with salt and pepper and whisked it with the olive oil. I added the finely chopped dill and mustard seeds to the sauce and stirred everything well. I poured the sauce over the catfish meat and left it to marinate for an hour.

I prepared the grill for medium heat, cooking over direct heat. I greased the grates of the grill with oil to prevent the catfish skin from sticking to them.

I placed the prepared catfish fillet on the grill, skin side down, over the medium-hot coals. I put the lid on the grill and left the fish fillet to cook for 15 minutes. If you can, place the thicker end of the fillet over a hotter fire and the tail where there are fewer coals.

In 15 minutes, the fish will be cooked through and the skin will be charred and even burnt in places. There is no need to turn the fish when cooking in this way, as the flesh is perfectly and succulently cooked and comes off the grill nicely. If you prefer, you can cut the fish fillet into pieces before baking, but this is not necessary as the whole fish fillet looks nicer when baked.
