It was great to see you at the first lesson of the year. Not only is it the first one after the long quarantine break, but it's also the first one on knives.
We've had a few knives in the griliai.lt range for a long time. These are from some of the world's best-known grill manufacturers NAPOLEON and WEBER Chef's knives for barbecue fans. However, as the barbecue and cooking culture has grown, we have seen that the need for good, quality, sharp tools for cooking has also grown significantly.
After long negotiations, in 2019 we became a German company OLEIO, and in 2020 we will become a Dutch company STYLE DE VIE Authentique distributors in Lithuania. Online at and in the physical shop we were able to offer a wide range of knives of different qualities, parameters, shapes and designs. However, the saying is true: the further you go into the woods, the more... Once you get into the subject of knives, it's endless! And who better than a die-hard enthusiast to talk about it?
We invited a Kaunas man to teach the lesson and answer all the questions Rimantas Lukoševičius. Rimantas has almost 20 years of management and sharpening experience with professional hairdressing scissors, and to a lesser extent with knives and their sharpening. In recent years he has started to concentrate on his old passion - sharpening professional knives.
Some time ago, only after becoming acquainted with Rimantasa man who loves and, above all, knows his craft, there was no doubt that the information in the lesson would be clear, specific, detailed and interesting. And so it was!
Interviewed by a professional event host Rytis Mazūras, Rimantas talked for almost 1.5h about the various subtleties related to knives. The audience heard the most important criteria for choosing a good, high quality knife with a long-lasting sharpness. There are many of them, both measurable, tangible and perceptible.
One of the most interesting topics in the lesson is knife shapes. The audience was told how each one differs. For some of the guests before the lesson santoku or nakiri were just Japanese-sounding words. And then there are the other names for knife shapes! After all, each of them was invented for a reason. Just STYLE DE VIE Authentique OLIVE FORGED there are at least 11 in the collection.
A seminar on knives is impossible without naming the composition of the metals, the names, the hardness, the Rockwell scale, the lengths and the shape and material of the handle...
Rimantas Told you where to store your knives safely, how to care for them, what to cut on. Griliai.lt shop has a wide range of options. For storage - and magnetic wooden bandsto be fixed to the wall, and knife stands, and leather sheaths; for cutting: Acacia tables or even special materials flexible boards. Knowing what to choose is great! It also determines how long your knife stays sharp.
Of course, we couldn't leave the subject of sharpening untouched - For Rimantas the most interesting, and the most relevant for the participants. How to sharpen, what tools to use, what angle to hold dashhow not to damage it, what to do if it is damaged,... This is only a small part of the story.
And what about superstition? After all, many people sincerely believe that you cannot give a knife as a gift. But cooking without it is hardly possible, and few people can enjoy a really sharp knife in the kitchen. So what to do? We've talked about that too.
And to help you absorb the theory you heard in class, we invited you to touch, hold, feel STYLE DE VIE Authentique and OLEIO knivessee the differences in their shapes and materials, try cutting paper and test the sharpness of the knives.
The tasty part of the event took place outdoors: those who arrived early could see what the latest Italian automatic barbecues look like TECNOROAST 20 and see that it's simply not possible to grill with them!
And on top of that, a grill suitable for travel, tourism and even events COBB Premier fried chicken breasts. Place on SMOKEY OLIVE WOOD on smokey olive wood tablesand smoked with olive wood chips, they impressed everyone!
And yes, the photo does not lie: COBB the grill was placed on a plastic table covered with a tablecloth for the entire cooking time. For those seeing it for the first time COBB were surprised - and for good reason: both the table and the tablecloth remained intact.
Thank you again to everyone who came to eat, listen and listen. A special thanks to the knife sharpener to Rimantas Lukoševičius and the host of the event Rycis Mazūras.
Thank you for the great feedback on the event! We will do it again! Stay tuned!
