History

The story of BarrelQ is quite simple. In 2013, Onno Vos, a TV presenter from Rotterdam, tried to make a barbecue out of an empty 200 litre barrel in his spare time. He got the barrels from his father's company, which sells petroleum products. So, little by little, he made several BarrelQ grills for his friends. Then it all started. The production went well in his spare time and Onno started selling his handmade grills. What's more, he even commissioned an advertisement, which was bought by the likes of Huub Sparnaay when he saw the grill. He liked the barbecue and soon contacted Onno and offered to invest in the business. To make sure everything went well, Huub called in another professional - Gerben Bierbooms. Gerben is an experienced international marketer and marketer, and it didn't take long for BarrelQ to spread all over the world. In 2017, the Dutch added Lithuania to their expansion map.

What makes BarrelQ special?

No, the BarrelQ men didn't invent the barbecue in a barrel. It was invented a long time ago. From the USA came barrels that were turned into smokers. They just had holes in the sides for rods on which you could hang fish and meat. But it is a smoker, not a barbecue. The Dutch noticed 3 things that made BarrelQ so desirable to barbecue lovers around the world:

1. A barbecue must burn throughout the party - it's a great heater and light source.
2. When there is no table, you can eat simply from the extinguished barbecue.
3. The barbecue must be personalised with the owner's name and logo. It should be colourful and eye-catching - a design element.

The Dutch didn't like cold iron or rust, so they created a unique grill that everyone can adapt to their needs.

One more point - if you don't need a big grill, a small one will do. Small 60 litre barrels are used for this purpose.

You can create your own grill on Griliai.lt or through our partners. All you have to do is choose the colour you want, upload your logo, write some text and you will have your own personalised grill for an additional fee. Of course, companies that care about their image will want a professional design, but everything can be done in an amateur way. Who needs it? Any bar, agritourism lodge, event organiser would not refuse a barbecue with their own logo and lettering. It's a fun design solution that can be taken from party to party. In addition, barbecues are sold with a special liner to prevent the car boot and the people who will be carrying it from getting dirty.

BarrelQ is a barbecue for young people because it is all about socialising and action around the barbecue. It warms everyone within a metre of it. The fire that burns in it illuminates quite a large area. With the lid on, it can hold more than one plate or tray of food, so there is no need for a table - the barbecue is the perfect place for a buffet.
