COBB History
COBB is an award-winning portable grill from the far reaches of South Africa. The first COBB grill was designed to make everyday life easier for people living in rural areas.
The idea was to encourage Africans to use sun-dried maize kernels as cooking fuel, replacing the use of wood and coal. Another important reason is safer food production without the use of direct fire and electricity.
It is no coincidence that the grill is called COBB, short for "corn cobs".
First COBB grill - a ceramic, clumsy, bowl-shaped vessel, has gradually evolved into a modern, environmentally friendly, portable and extremely efficient grill.
Little did the developers of the grill know that by solving this food production problem for poor people in Africa, they had created a product that would win the 2001 "Time Award as one of the best inventions of the year.
The COBB grill, which has evolved over several decades, can now grill, smoke, sear, boil or simply heat up the food you want. It is lightweight and compatible, making it easy to transport and enjoy your favourite dishes wherever you like. The COBB grill will make your food healthier: excess fat is contained in a special tray, so your food will be juicy but not greasy.
The COBB is also considered one of the safest grills in the world and can be used by even the smallest enthusiasts to learn the tricks of grilling. Thanks to special technology, the COBB grill's body and bottom never get hot.
